In the image, Enduring, the old style pumpjack standing the test of time. Still running, still producing, never wavering. The ability to build something so well that even extreme climate and passing years cannot slow it down. A memento from a time when things were built to last. Then the materials they used were made of things that turned beautiful as they aged. The vibrant colors and the old pump jack just pop out against the bright blue sky. The green grass full of youth and new life in contrast to this old and persistent statue.
A monument to the way things once were. Because they will never be that way again. As time marches on quietly, the growth and development of the once quiet West Texas small towns cannot be undone. The technology with which things are built today in a blur is outdated tomorrow. It is absolutely amazing how often and how quickly somethings are replaced. The idea of something that holds a permanent place in the world. I wonder what there will be left to remind people of this time years from now. Part of me fully believes this old Pump Jack will still be Enduring, even then.
