Description
This picture, Golden Age, just hits the “nail right on the head”. It’s the slightly odd background of the “Tall City” that seems to come from nowhere and for no reason. Skyscrapers in the middle of the wide-open spaces. The only reason for this crazy explosion of buildings is the energy industry itself. Off the side the little pumpjack that is dwarfed by the city behind it. However, that little pumpjack is the only reason the city behind it is there. Long ago when Midland got its start, it was the oil and gas industry that put the population here in the first place.
It only seems fitting that this one little pump jack that causes all this growth to be front and center in the shot. It’s a shout out to how it all started. Also, a reminder of the past. Because our future continues to look forward to the expansion. The bigger and better things this new boom brings. Midland is in constant growth and an oasis of busy people. The oil and gas industry thrives in the middle of the vast expanse that is West Texas. It always has been, since the Golden Age, where it all began.
